Dean's Message

Welcome to University College at the University of New Haven.  University College reflects the University of New Haven's continued dedication to meeting the educational needs of adult students and the region's corporate communities.  Programs and courses have and will be designed specifically with adult learners in mind focusing on academic excellence, convenience, and flexibility.

We recognize that most adults are going to college because their lives are in transition. Adult students have career goals that propel them to campus where they seek additional competencies to advance their careers, to change careers, or to keep up with their current jobs.  For adult students, education is a vehicle to success in moving from one status in life to another.  We are here to make that possible.

As many are aware, The University of New Haven was founded in 1920 as New Haven College to train students to meet the local needs of the community and region, often integrating education with experiences in business and industry.  For more than 80 years UNH has continued to provide upward mobility to adult students who otherwise would not have been able to receive a college education.  We are here to carry out and maintain a high level of service to our adult learners.

University College supports undergraduate and graduate degree programs, customized corporate training, and credit and non-credit certificates for adult learners, as well as English as a Second Language programs.  Additionally, the University College mission is expanded to the coordination of summer and inter-session courses offerings as well as the development of initiatives and programs related to K-12 collaborations and community outreach.

Once again, welcome to University College at the University of New Haven.

Sincerely,
Arthur Goon
