The New Website is Online and Operational
(Continued from UNH Today home page.)
UNH Campus and Community,
The Web Committee has put an enormous amount of energy and time into this initial launch. We owe a lot of gratitude to Matt Hochberg, Alan MacDougall, Sue Pranulis, Ruth Somers-Phillips; Gregory Soltesz, all of IT, and the entire marketing department (We also owe a debt of gratitude to all the graduate students that also helped). They have put in many extra hours and worked with countless people to make this a reality.
That is not to say that there won’t be problems, at first, that need to be cleaned up and for that we ask your patience. Please when reporting an issue or error follow the directions carefully below and do not assume somebody else is reporting an error. Within a few short months we will have one of the best web sites around. Patience and reporting back to us on the designated email address (listed below) is paramount at this time. We have contracted with a top proofreader that will check the entire site for spelling and grammar and will be giving her feedback to the committee. She has been in possession of all our publications for the past four weeks preparing for the job at hand and she is extremely fast at performing her tasks.
The new UNH website has launched as of today January 3rd, 2008 at 3:30 pm. The UNH URL of www.newhaven.edu will remain the same.
We would like to welcome all of you to view the new UNH website. There are a lot of fun and exciting changes that have taken place. We hope that you will familiarize yourself with the new site and feel free to provide feedback to the web steering committee at sitefeedback@newhaven.edu. Please do not use the phone as phone calls will only slow us down especially in the first few days after launch. We will call you if explanations are necessary.
You may or may not encounter issues with links that won’t work but which can be fixed in seconds yet others will take a few minutes to fix. There are some problems that may take a day or two to fix but within a week or two we should see a stable site. It is vital to the success of our site that you let us know at sitefeedback@newhaven.edu of any issues that you come across because we might not be aware of the issue.
In regards to content, any changes that need to take place should be made continually and should abide by the Alpha Style Guide found here. If you see content that needs editing please send an email to sitefeedback@newhaven.edu with the description of what needs to be edited and we will work with the proper content author to make these changes.
There are pages that do not have any content. These have been “hidden”, which means that they can not be viewed by the user. Once these pages obtain the necessary content then they will be made public. Content Authors will be receiving an email regarding pages that were “hidden” so that they can work on building the content for these pages.
If you have questions about your content please contact your content author first and then Ruth in marketing if they can’t help you.
Remember this is just a start. We are counting on the content authors to keep making their sites better, up-to-date and full of fresh content. Video and many other enhancements will be on their way as we progress.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,
Dennis
