Learn about Voodoo and Tourism at Talk: Call for Book Nominations
(Continued from UNH Today home page.)
The Common Reading Committee invites you to nominate a book for the 2008 University of New Haven Common Read.
The goals of the Common Reading Program are to create a common academic experience for first year students, and promote discussion which engages the campus community. The Common Read will be required for new students enrolled in the First Year Seminar. Our hope is that faculty, staff and current students will also choose to read the selected book. Programming opportunities will also be developed which relate to the book's themes.
We ask that you nominate books that allow for meaningful issues to be raised, are thematically rich and of reasonable length, have interesting characters, promote reading as a pleasurable activity, and can be discussed across many academic disciplines.
We look forward to receiving your nominations and thank you in advance for your contribution to the 2008 Common Reading Program.

Tropical Tuesday: Students and Faculty can wear tropical attire. In order for the attire to count, you must be wearing at least 2 articles that are indicative of the tropics.
Wednesday is University of New Haven Day: Students and Faculty are asked to wear as much Blue and Gold as they can. For each pair of blue and gold worn, a point will be issued. You cannot, however, interchange the items counted for their color. (for instance If you are wearing a blue hat, gold shirt, and blue pants, only one point will be issued for either the hat and shirt or the pants and shirt) Jeans or any other denim will not be counted and the color must be the majority of the item being counted. Face paint will get 2 extra points. Points will only be counted once so make them count!!
Turned Inside Out Thursday: Students and Faculty can wear their apparel inside out. The more you have inside out, the better. One point will be awarded for each piece of clothing worn inside out. Up to three points will be counted. Points will only be counted once.
Fall Out of Bed Friday: Students and Faculty can wear their pajamas to school!! A t-shirt and shorts do not count but pajama bottoms and slippers, nightgowns, etc will. Please no Birthday Suits or boxers!! We don't care if you really do sleep that way, and we really don't need to know that.

If you show up and stay, 2 bonus points will be awarded to your class. It is set up with chairs on the sides for girls and guys, and our school principal will be making rounds!! We will also have a photographer on site to take pictures of you and your date!! We have a lot of prizes and we plan on bringing back many memories.
Another way to get points in to make a banner that will be hung in the Charger Gymnasium during Midnight Madness. More than one can be made and each banner made will be worth 5 points. Don't forget that Midnight Madness is Sunday October 14 in the Charger Gymnasium at 10pm!! The winning class will be announced along with Mr. and Mrs. UNH for 2007. There will be games and prizes.
