Transfer Student Registration

Do I have to attend the SOAR  program?
All Transfer Students must attend one of our Transfer Transition and Registration Days.  These dates are:

• Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Students will receive information about their student ID card, information about parking on campus, and registration for classes for the fall semester occurs at this time.

How do I know how many transfer credits I have been awarded?
Refer to the Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) that you received shortly after your acceptance. It will tell you how many transfer credits you have tentatively been awarded. Transfer credits will be posted to your official transcript by the Registrar's Office during the fall semester.

I am currently enrolled and taking courses at another college. These courses are not included on my transfer credit evaluation. How do I get transfer credit for these courses?
At the end of the spring semester you need to request an updated official academic transcript from your current school. It should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. We will send you a new academic worksheet with your revised transfer credits.

How do I know if I need to take placement tests before I can register?
You will be notified by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions if you are required to take the Math, English and/or Chemistry placement tests.

How does UNH determine who needs to take placement tests?
If you have received transfer credit for the Math, English and/or Chemistry courses that are required on the TCE for your major, you may not have to take the placement test. Please refer to your TCE.

How will I know what classes to register for?
You will register individually with a faculty member from your college over the summer during the Transfer Student Transition and Registration Day you register for. The faculty member will advise you concerning your course selection.

Will the faculty member I register with be my official academic advisor?
Not necessarily. You will be notified at a later date who your official advisor will be.
