What:
The University of New Haven (UNH) Tagliatela College of Engineering will host a public lecture entitled: “Global Warming and Water Shortage Crises,” with Bill Mitch, Ph.D., associate professor at Yale University. Mitch is featured as part of the Fall 2009 Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program. He will discuss reduced access to clean water in both developed and developing worlds, and present basic techniques used to clean water. He will also explain how global warming and water shortage crises overlap. This event is free and open to the public.
When:
Wed., Nov. 4, 2009, 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.
Where:
Tagliatela College of Engineering, Room B120, UNH campus
Details:
Bill Mitch, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yale University. His research focuses on environmental organic chemistry, specifically in the disinfection arena where he focuses on characterizing the reaction pathways by which nitrogenous disinfection byproducts form during disinfection. The formation pathways are used to identify inexpensive process modification that can reduce the formation of these byproducts. He received his A.B. in anthropology (archeology) from Harvard University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
