What: Dr. Dennis Xu will be giving a presentation on the innovation and entrepreneurship of industrial parks in China during National Engineering Week at the University of New Haven (UNH). According to Xu, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) is one of the top ten industrial parks in the world. He will discuss the innovation of SIP and the support and help it received from the government. In addition, he will introduce the surrounding town where some American and British universities have set up subsidiary colleges. This lecture is sponsored by the Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program. It is one of several free public events offered during National Engineering Week, Feb. 17-23. Details: Dr. Dennis Xu is the chairman of the board of Viaon Technology Corp. He earned his B.Sc. (Hons.) in electrical and automation engineering from Tianjin University, China. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, UK. He did his post-doctoral fellowship at the Yale University School of Medicine. He served as assistant director of science and engineering computing facility at Yale University, as a special advisor to the Information Technology Center of Harvard University School of Medicine. He has also held industry positions in the U.S., including director of Asian operations at ETechnology Corp., and as the president of UltraChina Inc., a senior advisor for MX America. He is a visiting fellow at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Yale University, a visiting professor at Tsinghua University, China, and a guest professor at Tianjin University and Xiamen University, China.
