West Haven, Conn., May 3, 2007 - The University of New Haven (UNH) has selected Timothy Stanton as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations. He joins UNH with a wealth of experience in fund raising and a mastery of finance and law.
Stanton's fund-raising experience began at Choate Rosemary Hall, in Wallingford, Conn., where he was a major gifts officer before advancing to the position of director of major gifts and then director of planning, administration and operations.
Stanton was then appointed Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Sacred Heart University, where he increased annual giving to an all-time high of $1.6 million in his first year. Stanton also implemented a parent annual giving program that netted a staggering 55-percent increase in a one year period, and closed more than $200,000 in capital gifts in his first nine months on the job.
Stanton also holds an executive background in banking at a number of institutions throughout Connecticut, including Hudson United Bank, Shawmut Bank and Citigroup. He received a law degree from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor's degree from Amherst College where he majored in history.
