UNH Prof Seeks Couples for Survey

Article Body
West Haven, CT, June 4, 2009- Dr. Amy Nicole Salvaggio, assistant professor of industrial/organizational psychology at the University of New Haven, is looking for couples who are willing to talk confidentially about their love lives and work lives-all in the interest of helping employers figure out how to cope with, and assist, employees whose personal lives are affecting their work.

The ultimate goal of the survey is to help companies and couples navigate the intersection of work life and love life. Salvaggio notes that the information garnered from the survey will help employers respond to what she terms as "negative spillover." She explains, "Employers continually ask, ‘What can we do to help a great employee whose romantic relationship is affecting his or her work performance, and how can we help employees balance their personal and professional relationships?' Our aim is to answer those questions."

Salvaggio is seeking couples over the age of 22 who work more than 20 hours a week. Compensation for completion of the entire study will be in the form of gift cards valued at a total of $90 per couple.

Survey respondents will be asked to answer questions regarding their personal relationships and work attitudes. The information will be kept confidential, will in no way be distributed to their participants' employers, and couples will not see each other's responses. Interested couples can reach Salvaggio at (203) 932-7381, or by e-mail at asalvaggio@newhaven.edu.
