University of New Haven (UNH) Professor of Criminal Justice, Dr. Lynn Monahan, of Madison, Conn., has been selected to receive the University of New Haven Excellence in Student Advising Award. Monahan was one of eight faculty and staff members selected for the 2008 Faculty Excellence Awards by the Office of the Provost. Each award includes a cash prize of $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.
The criteria for the Excellence in Student Advising Award include demonstrated excellence in assisting in academic advisement, career guidance, and assistance in student goal-setting and decision making for UNH students. As an Excellence in Student Advising Award winner, Monahan will be named a Fellow of the Center for Faculty Development and invited to share her talent with faculty-at-large by giving at least one workshop in the next academic year. The workshop will focus on furthering excellence in student advising at UNH.
