West Haven, Conn., April 1, 2008 - Dr. Richard Highfield has been selected as dean of the College of Business at the University of New Haven, effective in mid-summer 2008, UNH President Steven H. Kaplan has announced. He will hold concurrently the rank of professor of economics in the College of Business.
Selected from an exceptionally strong pool of candidates, Highfield is a recognized leader in academic administration. He joins UNH from St. John's University, where he served for four years as dean of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business and Professor of Economics and Finance. His other administrative appointments include four years as dean of the School of Business at University at Albany, State University of New York, and six years as associate dean, MBA Program and Operations, at Cornell University. He earned his Ph.D. in 1987 in econometrics and economics from the University of Chicago, an M.B.A. in 1979 from Santa Clara University, and a B.A. in economics in 1971 from Stanford University.
