Looking for a video, for a class or for fun?
What we have: Your UNH Library has a varied and interesting collection of hundreds of videocassettes to choose from. In the Library Catalog, you can do a Keyword search for Videorecording to get a list of all of them.
We have feature films -- classics such as Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Schindler's List, as well as many unusual titles such as Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Click this Feature films link to see a listing of the current selections available. If you're looking for a particular movie, you can just go to the Catalog search page and type in the title, or the name of an actor or director, to see if we have it. Many of our movie catalog listings have reviews attached. On the catalog screen for a particular movie a Linked Resources link will take you to a review site for that title. For example, click on Blair Witch Project to see the listing, with reviews, for this movie.
We also have videos on non-fiction topics. For a list of our videos on Historical topics, click this link. These may be useful for class presentations, or for your own enlightenment.
In the area of Business, we have some classic Harvard Business School videos as well as HR videos featuring John Cleese of Monty Python fame.
These are just some examples; there's much more in the collection.
Where to get it: After you've found the call number in the Catalog for the video you want, request it at the main Circulation desk. The videos are kept in the Permanent Reserve collection, and a library staff member will get it for you.
Where to view it: You may take the videos out to view at home or in the dorm. They're due back in a week, and can be renewed for another week as long as no-one else has requested them. We also have a VCR in study room 306, if you want to view a video in the library.
Most of our videos have been received through generous donations to the library. If anyone has a video that they no longer want, that's appropriate for a library collection, we're happy to give it a good home.
