WEST HYANNISPORT, Mass. -- Three University of New Haven women's lacrosse student-athletes were named to the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Region Teams for 2008. Junior Brigid Brady was named First Team All-North Region while sisters Mallory and Ashley Ferrandiz were each named Second Team All-Region. These three student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA Lacrosse All-America teams, which will be announced May 29.
Brady (left) earned a spot on the North Region First Team after another stand-out season at the attack position for the Chargers. She tallied a team-high 53 goals in 2008. Brady added to her school records in both points and goals. In three seasons at UNH, Brady has now registered 189 points and 167 goals. The Islip Terrace, New York native was also a First Team All-ECC pick this season.
Midfielder Mallory Ferrandiz (middle) was named to the North Region Second Team. Junior Mallory bounced back from a season-ending injury in 2007 to record 55 points including a team-high 19 assists. She also scored 36 goals in her third season with the Chargers. Ferrandiz registered a team leading 50 draw controls on the year which ranked 11th nationally. She was also a Second Team All-Conference selection.
Freshman Ashley Ferrandiz (right) was also named to the North Region Second Team. Ferrandiz was certainly an impact player for the Chargers in her first season at UNH, starting all 17 matches. She tallied a team high 64 points on 48 goals and 16 assists. She led the team in groundballs with 51 and was second in draw controls with 46. Ferrandiz tallied five game-winning goals for the Chargers in 2008. She also earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
