Public Administration

The general purpose of the master of public administration degree is to train men and women at the graduate level for public service careers. Specifically, the program strives to equip students with modern analytic and quantitative tools of decision-making and their application to complex problems of government and nonprofit organizations; to expose students to the wide range of administrative and managerial problems and responsibilities in the public sector; and to increase students' knowledge and skills in the particular management functions of budgeting, planning, public policy formulation, public finance, public personnel administration and collective bargaining.

The College of Business offers an Accelerated Saturday MPA program at our New London campus.  This program has been designed for busy working professionals looking to complete a Master’s degree quickly without sacrificing quality. Classes are held on Saturdays, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.  Call 860-701-5454 or email secampus@newhaven.edu for more information.

Classes in the regular, on campus schedule meet on week nights and some afternoons to accomodate working students. The regular graduate schedule follows the trimester format of the university.

The New London cohort schedule is more accelerated and allows students to complete the degree in 22 months.  The New London schedule also accomodates busy working students by holding classes on Saturdays, from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
