Online Courses through OCICU

ONLINE COURSES WITH “OCICU” SECTION DESIGNATIONS

Online courses with a section number designation of “OCICU” are courses offered through UNH as part of our membership in the “Online Consortium of Independent Colleges & Universities” (OCICU) which is a virtual academic consortium in which member institutions share online courses and programs. Although OCICU courses are facilitated by participating provider institutions, you will register, pay tuition, and receive transcripts as you would any other course at UNH.

Once you have registered in Matrix for an online OCICU course, UNH will send your registration request to the appropriate OCICU provider school for processing. Please note that courses will have a UNH course code and course title as well as an OCICU course code and title.  When your registration request has been processed, the provider school will send you an email containing your login ID and password for course access. The email address we will provide to OCICU is your “newhaven.edu” email address.

While waiting for your registration confirmation email, please visit www.ocicu.org to begin preparing for your course. Once on the site:

  1. Click Student course Access
  2. Select your home school (University of New Haven) from the pull down menu
  3. Click on your course from the links listed at the bottom of the screen

From this site, you can review the provider’s academic calendar, demonstration course and system requirements. The Academic Calendar link provides the start and end dates for the provider’s online session. Please be aware that the OCICU online course dates may differ from the UNH academic calendar so check the course dates carefully.

You will also find links for ordering your textbooks and accessing your course. (Note: Course materials are available through the provider school and not through UNH. Course materials should be ordered at least 10 days prior to the course start date. Shipping time is normally 7-10 days; however overnight shipping is available for an additional charge). Do not order books until you receive confirmation from the provider school that you have been accepted for registration for your course.

UNH students will be required to take all OCICU courses for credit. Grades of Pass/Fail or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory will not be accepted.
