Staff Accountant; Grants & Contracts #08-78

 Duties:

  • Assists in developing budgets for grant proposal
  • Reviews grants and contracts for terms and conditions before passing documents to senior administrator
  • Monitors grant and contract revenue billing, drawdown, and collection processes
  • Authorize payments for expenditures on grants, sponsored projects and special funds
  • Prepare indirect cost report
  • Prepare A-133 work papers and work with outside auditors
  • Ensure compliance with government, granting agency and university regulations
  • Performs analysis and reconciliation of various financial accounts and bank accounts
  • Assists in the documentation of office policies and procedures
  • Prepare specific time sensitive reports as required by internal and external constituencies
  • Assists with year end audit and prepare schedules as assigned
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level and responsibility of the position

 Minimum Qualifications Desired

 Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required, MBA a plus.

  • One year, or more, of experience in accounting, grants and contracts is required.
  • Experience with financial reporting for Federal, State and private grants.
  • Knowledge of federal grant accounting regulations, indirect cost calculations and grant accounting.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred, as is experience with Navision, and or Crystal Reports.
  • These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.

Technical Support Representative-Academic Computer Laboratories #08-76

 

Office of Information Technology, University of New Haven, seeks a Technical Support Rep to oversee software and hardware in computer laboratories, UNH library and other locations. Duties include installing operating systems, applications and necessary patches. Additional duties entail installation and troubleshooting of printers/computers/peripheral and virus/spyware removal.  Also provides technical support to faculty and staff as necessary, including training in use of basic equipment and software. Also supports smart classroom instructor hardware and software. Proficiency with Macintosh and PC hardware and software is required. Basic networking experience strongly recommended. Unix experience a plus. Laboratory Manager Position #08-58

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of New Haven invites applications for the full-time staff position of Laboratory Manager. Duties include supporting Department Faculty and Laboratory Coordinators in the supply, operation and maintenance of Laboratory Courses. The lab manager in consultation with the Department Chair and Program Coordinators will also be responsible for laboratory safety training and logistics. He/she will be responsible for overseeing laboratory preparation and daily operations of the assigned labs and their facilities. The Laboratory manager is expected to take initiative and work independently on duties and responsibilities, and work effectively as constituents to facilitate the mission of the Department.

 

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with working industrial or academic Chemistry laboratory experience and excellent oral and written communication skills required. Strong background in chemical principles, chemical handling and laboratory safety is a must.

The Department of Communication, Film & Theatre: 

Faculty or Administrative Appointment #08-41

The Department of Communication, Film & Theatre at the University of New Haven seeks applicants for a communication lecturer/radio station general manager for WNHU-FM, a 1700-watt FM stereo station.  Depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate, the position offered may be (a) a faculty position with administrative assignments or (b) an administrative position with some teaching assignments.

 

  • Faculty Appointment-A faculty appointment will be as a nontenure-track lecturer to teach courses in broadcasting (radio/television), journalism and serve as general manager of WNHU-FM, a 1700-watt FM stereo station. Qualified faculty candidates must posses a Master's degree, with Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication preferred.
  • Administrative Appointment-An administrative appointment will be as general manager of WNHU-FM with a 12-credit instructional load as part of the administrative assignment. An administrative appointment requires a master's degree in communication or related field with experience in radio-station operations or management. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in communication or related field plus significant managerial experience in broadcasting may be considered in lieu of the master's degree.
